Places to visit

Pendle Hill

Pendle Hill is ideal for walking. Its distinctive profile is visible for miles around and the hill provides one of the most enchanting and picturesque areas of Lancashire's Hill Country. Pendle itself is known worldwide for the famous 17th Century trial of the Pendle Witches and the hill provides spectacular views north west to the Forest of Bowland and west over the Fylde Plain to the Irish Sea. There is evidence of a Bronze Age burial site called the Beacon on top of Pendle Hill.

The Pendle Way is a well sign-posted 45 mile circular route around Pendle Hill country. The area is characterised by windswept moorland, rocky outcrops, deep valleys and rolling fields.

Leeds & Liverpool Canal

The canal provides a wide variety of leisure activities for tourists. The tow paths are well kept and ideal for walking and cycling. Six reservoirs in Pendle feed the Canal and there is fishing on both the canal and the reservoirs. Hire boats are available from Lower Park Marina, and a cruise boat operates from Foulridge Wharf.

Golf

We are able to offer golf at discounted rates at the Whalley and Nelson courses.

East Lancs Railway

Always worth a visit is the award winning East Lancashire Steam Railway, which features many themed weekends throughout the summer.
