Joe Geeling 5 Mile Run

8 June 2008

Hundreds of charity runners raised cash in memory of the late Joe Geeling.
Lavender Hotels and runners and sponsors help to raise £7,468.50 which goes to The Joe Geeling Trust. The money will go to Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the New Manchester Child Hospital Appeal
Many Thanks to all that helped raise money for the Trust and support whilst organising the event and helping on the day of the event.

Lavender Hotels will be hosting the Bury Fun Run in aid of the Joe Geeling Trust on Sunday 14th June 2009, held at the Best Western Bolholt Country Park Hotel.

Old Mill Hotel - Restaurant Renovation

April 2008
Welcome to the newly refurbished - "Sir robert Peel Suite"

With the main restaurant & banequting room being closed for removation over the period of April, we can now confirm that it is completed and re-open !!.

Prior to April 2008 the restaurant at the hotel was known as "The Candles Restaurant", as a reminder of the Mill’s history.

After being refurbished the new look restaurant has been renamed the Sir Robert Peel Suite.

Bridesmaid and Paige Boy for the day!!

Another competition that was ran in conjunction with Chantlers County Primary School was to allow two children to star for the day as paige boy and bridesmaid in the fashion shows at the Bury Wedding Show held at the The Bolholt Country Park Hotel.

The Bury Wedding Show was held on the 28th October and the children performed admirably. The winners were Sean Year 4 and Abigail Year 3. On the day they were joined by Sophie and Ben who won the design award and the four of them did the business on the catwalk.

Sean and Abigail had to descibe why they wanted to be a paige boy/bridesmaid.

Shaun said " I would like to be chosen to be a paige boy at the wedding fair on Sunday 28th October because I cant remember the only wedding i have been to. Also my mum says i am cute and i am a good boy and i like wearing nice clothes.

Abigail said " I would like to be chosen to be a bridesmaid at the wedding fair on Sunday 28th October because i have always wanted to be one, all the people in my family are already married so i wont get the chance. If you chose me i will smile all day and be the best i can be. Please make my dream come true, all my love Abigail"

Designer Awards

Lavender Hotels is part of the national "Adopt a School" scheme. This strengthens the link between the two orgainisations in order to help the school.

Lavender Hotels has adopted Chantlers County Primary School in Bury. One of our recent competitions was to get the children to design a wedding dress and groom's outfit.

This picture was designed by Sophie Tillitson of year 1. Not only had she chosen some beautiful colours but she had attached some sequens to the outfit to give it that extra sparkle!

Ben Taylor of year 2 won the boys prize with a fantastic multi coloured waistcoat that would certainly turn a few heads!

Oaks Extension Begins

There was a huge sigh of relief for everyone at The Oaks Hotel as work started on the new function rooms at the hotel. The marquee is going to be no more as a 2 storey extension is being built where there marquee use to be.

This will mean that the Oaks Hotel will now boast 2 new function rooms of dffering size and style to attract any would be wedding couples.

The new rooms will be opening in the early Spring and the interior is being designed by SJS interiors.

Sample boards of the decor and layout of the rooms are on display at the reception of the hotel.

Midnight Walk

3 November 2007

The annual midnight walk was held on the night of Saturday 3rd November in order to raise further funds for Bury Hospice.

The event was extremely well attended and ended with bacon butties at the Stables Fitness & Leisure Club. A huge congratulations to all who took part and we will see you next year!

New Conference Rooms at Oaks

The new Oakleigh and Altham conference rooms have opened at the Oaks Hotel in Burnley. These purpose built rooms have been fitted with the latest audio visual equipment and free wireless internet.

The rooms are designed for small conferences in mind up to a maximum of 30 delegates boardroom style.

Old Mill Refurbishment

16 July 2007

So we finished at the Bolholt on Friday and started at the Old Mill on Monday, that’s dedication.

Each of the 29 bedrooms at the Old Mill are to be refurbished over the next few months bringing them to an ever high standard, in additon to this we will also be converting a meeting room into another room giving the Old Mill 30 bedrooms.

Refurbishment of the rooms at the Bolholt are completed

Friday the 13th did not bring any gloom to the Lavender Hotels at the Bolholt Hotel as this represented the end in its refurbishment of all its bedrooms. The bedrooms have now the following:

Oaks Hotel receives planning permission

The Oaks Hotel has been granted planning permission for the extension of its leisure club and the construction of two new function rooms.

The two new function rooms, one of which will replace the current room are to tastefully designed so to be sympathetic to the character that ouses from the Oaks Hotel.

Lavender Hotels has already appointed local interior design company SJS Interiors to design what will fantastic function and conference suites.

Leisure Clubs get Bupa Approved

Leisure Clubs get Bupa Approved Club Status and comply to the FIA code of practice
The Stables Fitness and Leisure Club, Old Mill Leisure Club and Oaks Leisure Club all received their rewards of gaining Bupa Approved Club status and now comply with the FIA code of practice.

This will further assure the members of Bury, Ramsbottom and Burnley leisure clubs that we are at the forefront of our profession.

Furthermore members of our leisure clubs can also receive 25% off BUPAcare.

Ang raises £900 for Pendleside Hospice

The Oaks Leisure Club Manager religiuosly competes in the London Marathon raising money for her local charity of Pendleside Hospice. However this year there was a change of plan due to the fantastice news of Angela soon to hear the patter of tiny feet. As a result she decided to do the three peaks challenge (talk about the frying pan into the fire).

The weather was absolutely miserable but she fantastically completed the massive trek. Opposite is a picture of her on the summit of Inglebrough.

All Lavender Hotels get FREE wireless internet

The 10th of March represented the final day of the installation of wireless internet in every one of the five Lavender Hotels. The free wireless internet is available in all bedrooms, confernce suites and public areas.

Added to this is the huge benefit that to gain access to the network is absolutley free, not like a lot of competitiors. Simon Doughty the Group Operations Director said "no longer will our customers have to fiddle around with wires and dataports in their bedrooms, it just as simple as turn on your laptop, connect the networka nd away you go".

For any would be conference goer again this free access means that they are able to easily link to the internet to demomstarte elements of their presentations and are able to send and receive e mails to keep in contact with people in the office.

Lavender Hotels purchase The Oaks Hotel in Burnley

The 15th of January represented the next stage in the expansion of Lavender Hotels which now operates 5 hotels and three leisure clubs.

The Oaks Hotel is a 50 bedroom 3 star hotel based on the outskirts of Burnley just off junction 9 of the M65. The hotel was originally owned by the Altham Family (of Altham Travel) and was converted into a hotel over 25 years ago. The hotel has beautiful period features and offers excellent accomodation, conference and wedding facilities.

It will defanitely be another feather in the cap of Lavender Hotels who are planning to further upgrade its facilities during the winter of 2007.

Lakeside Collection of Fine Hotels changes it name to Lavender Hotels

As we turned into the new year of 2007 a new day was dawning for the newly formed Lavender Hotels. Lakeside Collection has seen fantastic growth over the last 6 years but it was felt that a more recognised brand was needed and hence Lavender Hotels was born.

Lavender Hotels will still offer the same unrivalled quality that became synonymous with Lakeside Collection but this new age will mean further strides will be made to offer all Lavender Hotel customers even better value for money and higher standards of service.

Lavender Hotels nominates Bury Hospice as its charity for 2007

Bury Hospice delivers very special nursing and medical care to local men and women who are living with a life-threatening or terminal illness whilst supporting their families and carers. Care is provided by in-patient medical and respite facilities, day hospice care including creative therapy, out-patient clinics offering dietetic advice, physiotherapy, palliative care and symptom control and will shortly include a 'Hospice at Home' service. It also includes complementary services, stress management and relaxation therapy sessions, home assessment visits, bereavement support and visitor support services and accommodation. It aims to put the patient first and foremost and tries to care for the whole patient including their physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological and social needs.

Lavender Hotels head office is based in Bury and we are aware of the great work that Bury Hospice conduct in the local area. During this year Lavender Hotels will be carrying out a number of events in support of Bury Hospice.
